(Used to) Not Want Pets

There was a time when I rarely considered having pets. From what I remember growing up, I only had a couple of pets. They were some hamsters I think my brothers wanted and two small goldfish I won at a county fair. I was about seven when I had the fish. One was gold and the other was silver (Sampson and Hampton). I was a mere toddler when we had hamsters and I don't remember much about them, except I needed to be supervised when I fed the little cute monsters. Since then, I've always had a fascination with hamsters, mice, degus and other similar rodents because...I guess I'm weird like that. But as for dogs and cats, I was completely against it. Don't get at me, I love me some animals. The only reason why I was against having these pets was because of my allergies. I usually react to anything with fur. More than a Job

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" This is the first of many questions most people remember from their childhood. As time goes on, aspirations begin to change with life experiences. In most cases, what starts out as a job becomes an occupation and eventually turns into a career. It's easy to think of jobs, occupations, and careers as the same thing. While they may be linked into the same cluster, each one yields a very different meaning. Jobs can be defined as positions consisting of duties and tasks performed by a person in exchange for payment on either a full-time or part-time basis. These paid positions serve as a purpose for one to make and save money for something else, such as rent or mortgage or a new car. Some people work at a job mainly to make ends meet while others utilize all of their effort and energy to do their responsibilities as well as learn new skills. You Gotta Be...

I haven't seen this video or heard this song in forever. I was barely ten years old when I first heard this song and understood its message. This soulful throwback is a declaration to the underdogs, over-achievers, and everyone else in between trying to make a difference within themselves or in their communities. Everyone has been told in their lives at least once, "you can't do this," or "you're not that," even your own oppressor. That hasn't stopped him/her from pointing out your flaws, so why should it stop you from doing handling yourself correctly? Des'ree said it best when she sings "you gotta be bad, bold, wiser, hard, tough, stronger..." You can cry, be angry, and meek and it's okay. These qualities are not weak. Though outsiders will suffocate you quickly with such behavior, you can overcome it by being yourself and conquering evil with kindness. And kindness is not a weakness.
